Hi Manuscript Workers,
This week’s newsletter is a quickie to tell you about a few things I have coming up that you might be interested in.
First, my 75-minute webinar, “How to Pitch Your Book to Scholarly Publishers,” is happening this Friday (March 25th). If you’re serious about landing a book contract this year, this presentation will give you the foundation you need to be successful with publishers and figure out the submission strategy that’ll work best for you. If you’ve read The Book Proposal Book but still feel hazy on how and when to actually approach publishers, this is the webinar for you. (You can also attend without having read the book, of course.) All registrants will receive a recording.
Second, the two self-paced programs I offer are now reopen for enrollment. These are the Book Proposal Shortcut for Busy Scholars and my Developmental Editing for Academics course. I’ll talk more about those programs in a future post (and they’ll stay open for a while), but if you’ve known you wanted to do one of them and you’ve just been waiting for them to open up again, the time is now!
I will very likely run my Developmental Editing for Academics webinar again in the next few months (this is an hour-long presentation that functions as a sort of taster for the developmental editing course). I’ll share details about that in the newsletter when I have them. But again, if you already know you want to do the course, you can go ahead and sign up without waiting for the webinar to come around.
Third, as I mentioned last week, I’ll be running my free 5-day challenge, Find the Perfect-Fit Publisher for Your Scholarly Book, from April 25th to April 29th. You can register for that any time — when you sign up you’ll get some introductory material and my handout on how to start identifying suitable publishers for your project. Then we’ll get into it for real in April.
And lastly, a reminder that the Book Proposal Accelerator will open for general enrollment at 9am on May 2nd, 2022, but pre-enrollment is available now for certain groups. More details about that are here. Let me know if you have questions about the Accelerator that aren’t answered in this post!
The topic of an upcoming newsletter will be deadlines in book publishing — do you have questions about that? Send ‘em my way!
See you next week!
Signed up for the developmental editing course. Looking forward!
