Celebrating the 2-year anniversary of The Book Proposal Book
Hello Manuscript Workers,
At the beginning of this year, I talked about my goal to make the resources I’ve created for scholarly authors more accessible to more people. I’m still working toward aspects of that goal, but one thing I know I can do a better job of is just letting you know (or reminding you) about the resources that already exist.
In that spirit, today I want to both celebrate the two-year anniversary of the release of The Book Proposal Book: A Guide for Scholarly Authors and share that I’ve created a free set of worksheets to support you in applying the book’s material to your own book proposal.
If you haven’t downloaded the worksheets yet, you can find them here! They are completely free to download and you don’t need to provide proof of purchase.
If you still need a copy of the book, I suggest buying it directly from Princeton University Press here!
This page has other purchase links, including to get the audiobook version.
Looking for a structured program to help you apply the principles in The Book Proposal Book and crank out a great proposal as efficiently as possible? Check out my Book Proposal Shortcut course.
If you know a scholarly author who might benefit from this book and supporting resources, could you please forward this newsletter along or share it on social media?
Thank you so much for helping to spread the word and make this information available to more scholars who need it. See you next week with more resources for scholarly authors!
Do you have a scholarly book coming out next month? Did The Book Proposal Book (or this newsletter) help you land your publisher? If so, I’d love to feature your new book in an upcoming post. Reply to this email with a link to your publisher’s order page and attach a jpeg of your cover. If you have a discount code you want to share, feel free to throw that in too!
I hope to promote new book releases from Manuscript Works readers and clients on a monthly basis going forward, so keep me in mind if you have a scholarly book coming out in the future and would like to share it with 10,000+ potential readers.

LPS is fantastic at systematizing the Scholarly Book Acquisition Process, from writing the proposal all the way to finished book. I've taken her "Developmental Editing for Scholars" and found every bit of it to be helpful. That she is sharing these Manuscript Works documents is wonderfully generous -- put them to good use! Bravo to her!
